Lea Ved

Lea Ved is currently a third year BFA dance student at The Juilliard School. Since the age of 3, she danced at local dance studios while her family moved around the country, most recently in Raleigh, North Carolina where she studied at Carolina Dance Center. While at Juilliard, she has performed new works by Andrea Miller, Raewyn Hill, and Pam Tanowitz, and has had the opportunity to perform repertoire by Jose Limon and Mark Morris. She also had the opportunity to participate in Juilliard performances in Aiken, South Carolina, and was selected as a choreographer for Choreographers & Composers Workshop 2011. She has attended the Boston Ballet and Alonzo King Lines Ballet summer programs, and has worked intimately with Victor Quijada, DanakaDance, Jill Johnson, and Sidra Bell through Springboard Montreal and the Movement Invention Project. Lea is an advocate for community engagement in the arts and was part of Juilliard PEPS (Performing Educational Programs for Schools) Summer 2010, interactive dance performances to students in New York City middle and high schools. In 2009, Lea co-founded “Reveal,” a touring weekend dance workshop that has been brought to local dance studios of North Carolina, Iceland, and soon Chicago and Massachusetts. Lea is featured in “Brain, The Inside Story”, an exhibit produced by the American Museum of Natural History and now touring the world.
