Haruka Tamura

Haruka Tamura was born in Chiba, Japan, and started training at the age of 5 at Sumire Ballet Classic under the direction of Yoko Araki. While she was training, she was a finalist at All Japan Union Ballet Competition and NBA National Ballet Competition. She attended dance intensives in Japan and worked with numerous guest artists including Eva Evdokimova and Morihiro Iwata. After graduating from high school, she came to America to attend the Boston Ballet School Summer Dance Program in 2009 and was accepted to the dance program at The Hartt School, University of Hartford the following year. She is now a sophomore and hopes to join a professional ballet company in the United States after graduating. She would like to thank all of her teachers, especially Stephen Pier and Alla Nikitina, for their support and encouragement!

The way I dance includes my personality, soul, and passions. The beauty of dance, I believe, is created by me. It can be my own definition of dance. I strongly think the most important thing in performance is to show myself and to define who I am.
