Esteban Eduardo Garza

steban Eduardo Garza was born in Fort Worth, Texas November 06, 1988. Esteban began dancing at the age of 14 in La Joya, TX. Under the direction of Rolando Rodriguez and Esthela Mendoza, Esteban formed part of Grupo Folklorico Tabasco where he was privileged to learn and work under many of Mexico’s most renowned Mexican Folklore Dance Masters. Two years later he expanded his dance training in various genres such as Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, American and Latin Ballroom, Irish Hard shoe to name a few. Esteban was a 2007 finalist and winner of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. Esteban is currently receiving his BA in Dance with a focus in Flamenco and Contemporary dance at the University of New Mexico. Esteban also studies at the National Institute of Flamenco Arts where he forms part of Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company under the direction of Joaquin Encinias. Along with the prestigious Flamenco education he is receiving, his performance experience extends to various modern shows throughout Albuquerque. Along with the vast performance and training experiences, his modern background includes training by formal Principal Dancer Peggy Lyman, where he was given the opportunity to perform one of Martha Graham’s first choreographies Panorama in Marta Grahams “Dance is a Weapon”. Esteban is also currently working on his studies in “Danza Regional Mexicana”, Mexican Regional Dance, in the school of Jaime Buentello Bazan in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico.

I feel like this is a beautiful ongoing (dance) journey enlightens me with so much knowledge and prepares me for greater things in the dance world.
